Squee!

I'm afraid I don't have much knitting to report on. I've been working a lot of extra hours the last couple weeks, and will continue to do so for another couple. Normally, I don't like working long hours (I much prefer my time with knitting needles over my time with medical needles). But I don't mind the extra work right now because I need the extra money: I'm going to Alaska in June!

I am so, so, so excited about this trip. I'll be meeting Rick in Talkeetna when he returns from Mt. McKinley, but before that I'll have my own four-day hiking/biking/kayaking adventure.

And there's even more good news: I'll be in Anchorage on the exact date that the Yarn Harlot will be there on tour! So I guess I'll get to attend a second book tour and have some good reading for the plane ride home! Squee!

In the meantime, I'm slowly but surely working on the socks and hope to have a finished pair soon. Now I really want to learn to knit socks, so I can take some sock yarn with me to Alaska for a small, portable project. Has anyone taken their knitting with them on a plane recently? Are sharp metal knitting needles really allowed in a carry-on? If not, I have a very long twelve-hour flight ahead of me. I suppose I could at least carry some fondling yarn for comfort... :)

Comments:
Hm, well Justin just flew to California with a hat on size 10 Addi Turbos with no problem :)

It's funny, I had recently joked with Justin thta I'd like to go to Alaska and see the Harlot there. Just cuz =P

Lucky you!! When I went to SF last year I removed my dear Addi Turbo's and replaced them with bamboo needles in the event they confiscated needles. They did not.

That sounds awesome. I have always wanted to go to Alaska. And to get to see the Yarn Harlot too--what a perfect vacation!

Still quite jealous about the whole Alaska thing. But you are way overdue for a vacation, Knitta. That 12-hour flight will be here before you know it!
